HypnoBirthing® Courses

The HypnoBirthing® course usually consists of four weekly classes (totalling 12 hours) for both the mother and her birth companion. They can be run in a small group (2 or 3 couples) or on a one to one basis.

Sometimes classes are run over a shorter period of time if necessary.
They are suitable at almost any stage of pregnancy. It is never too early or late to start.

Private classes in your own home are also available.
Please call the office on 01707 896 581 for details on dates and prices.

  What Will I Learn?

HypnoBirthing® is essentially a method for helping you to overcome fears surrounding childbirth, so that you can be well prepared for the day your baby comes, with all the tools and techniques you need to feel comfortable, in control and relaxed as you give birth. It shows you how to work with, not against, your body.

As well as fear-release, you will be learning self-hypnosis, special breathing techniques, deep relaxation methods, light-touch massage and many other methods with which you and your partner will use to facilitate the birth. You will also learn in depth childbirth information, that will thoroughly prepare both of you psychologically and physically for having a baby. The course is attended by you and your Birth Companion.

  Testimonials

from mothers ...
"The course gave me the strength and confidence to believe I can have a natural childbirth. I'm actually looking forward to it now rather than dreading it!"

"The course confirmed what I instinctively knew about listening to my body and it provided me with the tools to deal with the birthing process. It was invaluable in at last giving me with the birthing knowledge I wanted to hear. I gained a lot from brainstorming as a group and learning from Deborah who has a fantastic knowledge and approach. The course is great ú expertly segmented, timed and sequenced and... brilliant."

"It helped me to identify my fears and we are now as well prepared as it is possible to be. We have given ourselves and our baby the best chance of the most positive, loving experience possible."

"The relaxation techniques were great as they make you feel in control. I also liked how it made me look forward to the birth instead of being scared. I feel I have useful knowledge now which is empowering."

and from their partners ...
"I was 'gob-smacked' by the course. It exceeded my expectations dramatically - very impressive. Experiencing first-hand self-anaesthesia was amazing and a huge confidence booster for us both"

"I expected it to be a load of twaddle, but it was brilliant. I would recommend it to anyone. It was such a great experience. I enjoyed the positive nature of the course, and learning to focus my thoughts through hypnosis. Also having the time to think about the needs of Claire and the baby. Absolutely invaluable. I am totally skeptical of such things but this really works. I gained so much from learning to control both mind and body. I will use it when I run the London Marathon next year."

"It was great! It made me see birth as even more of a natural process and clarified my feeling towards and bonding with my baby, giving me techniques to help Sarah and encourage relaxation"

"We now have the tools to prepare mentally and physically for the birth. We'll be relaxed, in control and aware of what's going on - which can only benefit the baby before and after. I'll be able to do practical things to help make an easier birth."

from Independent Midwives...
'I would have to say that HypnoBirthing® is the most amazing phenomenon to observe in action. Women seem to sail through the birthing of their babies, working as a team with their birth partner who is the essential anchor for her. There is nothing for the midwife to do except sit quietly and watch and wait. The entire experience seems to bring the couple closer together as they share in the achievement and benefit from the enhanced trust in one another that they have developed.
I also think from an educational point of view couples seem to really take on board the physiological process and how a positive environment is essential to a normal outcome. And finally, I think the real success story for HypnoBirthing® is it's benefit to men. Men have the hardest job really, being supportive to their partners but not really having a defined role. Men's role as HypnoBirthing® partners is clearly key to the whole success story and being actively involved in the birth of their children allows men to bond easily and immediately with them."
Jacqui from the London Birth Centre

"As a midwife, I feel it is unethical for me not to inform my clients of the benefits of HypnoBirthing®. I strongly support hypnoBirthing and Annie's preparation, having attended her workshop and supporting several women who have employed hypnoBirthing and shown immense coping strategies andstrength.
HypnoBirthing® is not only invaluable in increasing the likelihood of having a natural bith, but also supporting women through antenatal discomfort and when births do not go according to plan. HypnoBirthing® is also beneficial for birth partners, in particular Fathers, as it provides them with a practical role during the labour and birth and enables them to remain calm, informed and in tune with the birth process. HypnoBirthing® with Annie is an absolute must!"
